The Rejection of the Hebrew Messiah
"We have no king but Caesar"
John 19:15
The Hebrews rejected their Messiah as was foretold by their prophets. The rejection was God's plan to save the whole world. The King became the Passover lamb so that death would "pass over" anyone who believes.
Isaiah 53:7
7 - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
John 19:14-16
14 - And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
15 - But they cried out, Away with [him], away with [him], crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
16 - Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led [him] away.
Matthew 23:37-39
37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
38 - Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
39 - For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
