Instructions About Worship
2 First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we might live a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this testimony, I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I speak the truth;[a] I am not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument. 9 Likewise, I also want women to adorn themselves with respectable clothing,[b] with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. 11 A woman should learn in a quiet manner with full submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. Instead, she is to continue in a quiet manner. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but it was the woman who was deceived and became a transgressor. 15 But she will be saved—while bearing children[c]—if they remain in faith and love and sanctification with self-control.
